Cluster Frontline Demonstrations (CFLDs)
Cluster FLDs under National Mission on Oilseed and Oil Palm (NMOOP) and National Food Security Mission (NFSM) during 2015-16 & 2016-17 :
Under ICAR-ATARI, Umiam, there were 53 Numbers of KVKs included for Cluster Demonstrations. KVKs conducted Cluster frontline demonstration (FLDs) to demonstrate the production potential of newly released technologies on the farmer's fields at different location in a given farming system and organized farming and extension activities for farmer and extension workers for dissemination of various technologies.
Achievements during 2015-16
During 2015-16, a new initiative of Cluster FLD on Oilseeds and Pulses was taken up by 53 KVKs under National Mission on Oilseed and Oil Palm (NMOOP) and National Food Security Mission (NFSM). A total of 1470 hectare of area was allocated for cluster FLD on oilseeds, of which 1249 hectare area was covered for the purpose for 2843 nos. of demonstrations. The cluster demonstration on oilseeds included rapeseeds and mustard (var. TS-36, TS-38, TS-46, TS-67, JT-90-1), linseeds (var. T-397, Padmini, NL 165 and Ruchi) and Sesamum (var. ST-1683, Bahaubheti, Kaliabor and Nagaon til).
A total of 1161 hectare area was covered for cluster demonstration on pulse crops out of allocated area of 1254 hectares. The FLD was conducted through a total of 3563 nos. of demonstrations by the selected KVKs in the region. The cluster demonstrations included Pea (var. Prakash, HUP-2, Rachna, Anupam), blackgram (var. IPU-94-1, Tripura Maskolai), Chick pea (var. AP-1, V), Rajmah (var. Jwala, Anupam), greengram (Pratap, K-851), lentil (HUL-57, PL-406, Moitree, KLS-218) and Frenchbean (S-9).
The average productivity of Rapeseed & Mustard was highest in Assam (9.5 q/ha) followed by Tripura (7.84 q/ha) and Nagaland (7.27 q/ha). For Linseed, the highest production rate was highest in Assam (7.19 q/ha). Sesamum was conducted by KVKs of Assam with average productivity of 5.77 q/ha.
In Pulses, the productivity of Lentil was highest in Assam (7.65 q/ha), while in field pea highest yield was recorded in Sikkim (17.3 q/ha). Highest yield of blackgram and greengram was recorded in Assam with 7.27 q/ha and 6.98 q/ha respectively. In Chickpea, highest productivity was produced by Mizoram (17.0 q/ha), while in Rajma maximum yield was produced by Nagaland (13.5 q/ha). In Frenchbean, average productivity obtained was 17.65 q/ha.
Achievements during 2016-17
During 2016-17, the Cluster FLD on oilseeds and pulses was taken up by the 50 selected KVKs under National Mission on Oilseed and Oil Palm (NMOOP) and National Food Security Mission (NFSM). A total of 1540 hectare of area was allocated for cluster FLD on oilseeds, of which 1500 hectare area was covered for the purpose with 3622 nos. of demonstrations. The cluster demonstration on oilseeds included rapeseeds and mustard (var. TS-36, TS-38, TS-46, TS-67, JT-90-1) and linseeds (var. T-397, Padmini, NL 165 and Ruchi). While a total of 2412 hectare area were covered for cluster demonstration on pulse crops out of the allocated area of 2490 hectares. Thus, a total of 6103 nos. of demonstrations on pulses were conducted by the selected KVKs in the region. These included Pea (var. Prakash, HUP-2, Rachna, Anupam), Lentil (Hul-57, Maitree), Blackgram (var. IPU-94-1, Tripura Maskolai), Greengram (Pratap) and Rajmah (var. Jwala, Anupam). The details are given in Table 24. The state- wise average productivity of major pulse and oilseed crops under NMOOP during 2016 -17 are presented in Table 25 and Table 26, respectively and their respective graphs are shown in Fig 9 and Fig 10. From the Tables and Figs, it is observed that the average productivity of Blackgram was found to be highest in Sikkim with production rate of 10.2 q/ha followed by Arunachal Pradesh (9.88 q/ha), Tripura (8.05 q/ha), Assam (7.44 q/ha) and Manipur (5 q/ha). The average production rate of rapeseed and mustard during 2016-17 was found to be highest for Assam (9.55 q/ha) followed by Tripura (9.2 q/ha).
